We Tried It All! Top 3 Must-Eat Dishes 🍜

Okay, let’s get to the good stuff — the FOOD! 🎤 Here are the three dishes we tried at Taiwan Festival 2026, ranked by how hard we fell in love with them 💕 Spoiler: they were all incredible.

① Da Ji Pai (Giant Fried Chicken) — ¥1,200 🍗

If there’s one thing Taiwan is famous for on the street food scene, it’s Da Ji Pai (大鶏排) — the legendary giant fried chicken cutlet that’s literally bigger than your face. At ¥1,200, it might sound a little pricey, but the moment you see it in person, you’ll get it immediately. This thing is MASSIVE 😭🍗

The coating was perfectly crispy, the meat inside was juicy and packed with flavor, and there was just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. There was already a line forming at the stall when we arrived — and honestly, that told us everything we needed to know. Absolute must-order.

② Xiaolongbao (Soup Dumplings) — ¥700 (5 pieces) 🥟

Next up: Xiaolongbao (小籠包)! Five pieces for ¥700 — super reasonable for the quality you’re getting 💕 We went on a slightly chilly day, and these were honestly the perfect warm-up. The moment you bite in, a rush of hot, savory broth floods your mouth — and it is SO satisfying.

Whether you’re a soup dumpling first-timer or a total Xiaolongbao obsessive, these deliver. Great as a snack between other dishes, and perfect for eating on the go around the venue!

③ Taiwan Mianxian (Vermicelli Noodle Soup) — ¥800🍜

We saved the coziest dish for last — Taiwan Mianxian (麺線), a Taiwanese soul food staple made with super thin vermicelli noodles in a thick, silky broth. This is the kind of dish that warms you up from the inside out 🤤

The broth had this gorgeous gelatinous texture that clung to every strand of noodle, and the braised offal topping was deeply flavorful and perfectly tender. It’s not the most photogenic dish of the three, but honestly it might’ve been the most satisfying bite of the whole day. Highly recommend!

The Venue: Lanterns + Skytree = Pure Magic 🏮✨

Okay, the food is incredible — but can we talk about how GORGEOUS this venue is? Colorful lanterns in every shade of red, blue, yellow, and floral print are strung up all across the space, creating an atmosphere that feels genuinely magical 📸 The golden-hour and nighttime lighting especially takes it to another level — every corner is a photo op waiting to happen.

And here’s the thing that makes this event truly unique: when you look up, past all the lanterns and the warm glow of the stalls… you see Tokyo Skytree 🗼 It’s this wild, wonderful contrast — Taiwanese night market vibes down below, one of Tokyo’s most iconic landmarks towering above. It genuinely feels like two worlds colliding in the best possible way.

Taiwan Festival runs until May 31, 2026 with free admission, so there’s really no excuse not to go! Whether you’re in Tokyo for the day or looking for a fun weekend outing, this is absolutely worth putting on your list 💕
